Quick answer: If your Geek Bar is not working, start with the simple stuff: take off any leftover packaging or seals, charge it with a known-good USB-C cable, check the screen for a lock icon, and make sure the airflow isn’t closed or blocked. On pod kits like the Mate 60K and Clio Platinum, take the pod off and reattach it firmly. If the screen shows the e-liquid is empty, or nothing changes after every check, the device has reached the end of its run and it’s time for a new one. For adults 21+ only.
This guide covers the Geek Bar models we carry: Pulse X 25K, Pulse X2 50K, Pulse 2 25K, Pulse 15000, Skyview 25K, CLR 50K, Mate 60K Kit and Clio Platinum 50K Kit. Every one of them charges by USB-C and has a screen, so most fixes are the same across the line.
What “not working” usually means
Match what you see to the most likely cause, then jump to the fix.
| What you see | Most likely cause | Try this first |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing lights up when you draw | Battery is flat | Charge with a known-good USB-C cable and a wall adapter |
| Lock icon on the screen | Child lock is on | Follow our Geek Bar unlock steps |
| Screen lights up, but no vapor | Blocked or closed airflow, lock, or empty e-liquid | Clear the mouthpiece, open the airflow, check the e-liquid reading |
| Won’t take a charge | Cable, power source or lint in the port | See Geek Bar Pulse not charging |
| Stopped after a pod swap (Mate or Clio) | Pod not fully seated, or the wrong pod | Take the pod off and reattach it until it sits flush |
| Weak or burnt taste | E-liquid is running out | Check the e-liquid reading; see why a disposable tastes burnt |
How to fix a Geek Bar that’s not working, step by step
- Remove all packaging. On a new device, check the mouthpiece and the airflow area for stickers, caps or wrap. On pod kits, check the pod too.
- Charge it. Plug in a known-good USB-C cable and a standard wall adapter, not a hub or car port. Leave it until the screen shows charge. Some models, like the Skyview 25K, don’t list a cable in the box, so use your own.
- Check for a lock icon. On models with a button, a few quick presses can switch the child lock on. Our unlock guide covers the button steps. Follow the manual in the box for your exact model.
- Check the mode or power setting. Pulse models have Regular and Pulse modes, the Clio Platinum adds Super Pulse, and the Skyview has 12 W, 18 W and 25 W settings. Make sure the device is set to a mode as shown in its manual, then confirm on the screen.
- Open and clear the airflow. Most of these models have adjustable airflow. Make sure it isn’t fully closed. Wipe the mouthpiece with a dry tissue. Don’t push anything into the device.
- Take slow, gentle puffs. Hard pulls can pull liquid into the airflow. Two or three easy draws are usually enough to wake the sensor. If the device is cold, let it sit at room temperature first.
- Read the e-liquid level. The Pulse models and Skyview show e-liquid on the screen, and the Mate pod has a visible tank. If it reads empty, no fix will bring it back.
- Reseat the pod (Mate and Clio only). Take the pod off, check that the contacts look clean and dry, and reattach it firmly until it sits flush.
Model notes
Pulse X, Pulse X2, Pulse 2 and Pulse 15000
These are sealed, pre-filled disposables that charge by USB-C and show battery and e-liquid on the screen. Pulse mode gives a more concentrated hit, so it’s rated for fewer puffs than Regular mode (the Pulse X is rated for up to 25,000 puffs in Regular and 15,000 in Pulse). For model detail, see our Pulse X troubleshooting guide, Pulse X screen meanings and Geek Bar Pulse settings.
Mate 60K
The Mate is a reusable 900 mAh device with swap-in pods. Each pod has a 200 mAh built-in battery that recharges on the device, and a visible tank so you can check the liquid. Mate pods fit the Mate 60K device only. If it stops after a swap, reseat the pod and confirm it’s a Mate pod. Our how to use a Geek Bar Mate guide walks through pod swaps and charging.
Clio Platinum 50K
The Clio Platinum has a 360° screen on the pod plus a display on the device. The USB-C port is on the device, not the pod, so charge the device. Clio pods don’t fit the Mate, so match pods to their own system. See the Geek Bar Clio Platinum guide and our pod compatibility chart.
Skyview 25K
The Skyview is a pre-filled disposable with a 1.8-inch screen that shows power level, battery and e-liquid. It’s draw-activated, with 12 W, 18 W and 25 W settings. More in the Geek Bar Skyview 25K guide.
CLR 50K
The CLR is a sealed disposable with an LED display, Regular and Pulse modes, adjustable airflow and USB-C charging. There are no pods to swap. See the Geek Bar CLR 50K guide.
Leaking, gurgling or a tight draw?
Liquid in the mouthpiece can stop a Geek Bar from firing. Wipe the mouthpiece dry and take a few gentle puffs. For more, read why a Geek vape leaks and how to unclog a disposable vape.
When to contact us or replace it
- It arrived not working. If a new device won’t fire, won’t charge or is leaking out of the box, contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and a photo or short video. Our refund and returns policy explains what happens next, and you can reach us through our contact page.
- Manufacturer warranty. Geek Bar’s own support page says warranty claims go through the store where you bought the device, so keep your order confirmation.
- It ran out through normal use. A device that has used up its e-liquid or battery life isn’t defective. Puff counts are manufacturer “up to” ratings, and real use is usually lower.
- Replace it when the screen shows the e-liquid is empty, the housing is cracked or damaged, or it still does nothing after a full charge, a lock check, clear airflow and gentle puffs. Don’t open or refill a sealed disposable.
Ready for a new one? Shop the Geek Bar collection or, for Mate and Clio owners, replacement pods. When you’re done with an old device, see how to dispose of a vape.

FAQ
Why is my Geek Bar not working?
Most of the time it’s a flat battery, the child lock, closed or blocked airflow, or empty e-liquid. Charge it, check for a lock icon, open the airflow and check the e-liquid reading.
Why does my Geek Bar light up but not hit?
The battery has power, so check for a lock icon, make sure the airflow isn’t closed or blocked, and look at the e-liquid reading. If it reads empty, the device is done.
Why is my new Geek Bar not working?
Check for leftover stickers, caps or wrap, then charge it and check for a lock icon. If it still won’t fire, contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and a photo or video.
How do I reset a Geek Bar?
We don’t know of a published factory reset for these models. A soft reset is to charge it, let it sit at room temperature, clear the airflow and take a few gentle puffs.
Why did my Geek Bar Mate or Clio Platinum stop working after a pod swap?
The pod may not be fully seated, or it may be the wrong pod. Take it off, reattach it firmly, and make sure it’s a Mate pod on a Mate device or a Clio Platinum pod on a Clio Platinum device.
Can I return a Geek Bar that isn't working?
If it arrived defective, contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and a photo or video. A device that ran out of e-liquid or battery through normal use isn’t defective.
