Quick answer: A pod kit gives you a battery you keep plus pre-filled pods you swap. A disposable is a single unit you replace when it’s done. On our current prices, pod kits are not automatically cheaper. Only the Geek Bar Mate 60K pod ($21.99 for up to 60,000 puffs) beats the best 3-pack disposable deals on cost per rated puff. Pick a pod kit if you want less to throw away and the option to switch pods. Pick a disposable if you want the simplest setup or multi-pack savings.

What’s the difference between a pod kit and a disposable vape?
- Disposable: battery, coil and e-liquid in one sealed device. Charge it with USB-C when it runs low, and replace the whole thing when the e-liquid is gone. Examples: Geek Bar Pulse X2 50K, RAZ RX 50K.
- Pod kit: a main battery you keep, plus pre-filled pods with the coil built in. When a pod runs dry, you click in a new one. Examples: Geek Bar Mate 60K kit, RAZ Vue 50K, Geek Bar Clio Platinum 50K kit, Foger Switch Pro.
Neither type is refillable. The pods in these kits come pre-filled and sealed, just like a disposable.
Which is cheaper per puff, a pod kit or a disposable?

What the table shows:
- The Mate 60K pod is the lowest cost per rated puff on the list, at $0.37 per 1,000.
- The Vue, Clio Platinum and Switch Pro pods work out to $0.50 per 1,000, the same as a single Pulse X2 or RAZ RX.
- Buying the Pulse X2 or RAZ RX in a 3-pack ($0.40 per 1,000) beats every refill pod except the Mate.
- Multi-pack deals aren’t shown on the Mate, Vue or Clio Platinum pages, so their prices are per unit.
Rated puffs are the maker’s numbers in the lower-power mode. Pulse, Boost or Super Pulse modes lower them, so real cost per puff depends on how you use it.
Why buy a pod kit?
- You keep the battery. When a pod runs out, only the pod gets replaced. The Mate kit pairs a 900 mAh device with a 200 mAh pod, and the Vue pairs a 900 mAh power bank with a 420 mAh pod.
- Switching pods. You can keep a couple of pods on hand and swap between them on one battery.
- Bigger single pods. The Mate pod is rated up to 60,000 puffs in Regular mode, the highest rating we carry.
- Cheap spare power on the Switch Pro. A separate Switch Pro 1200mAh battery is $9.99 and works only with genuine Switch Pro pods.
The trade-off: pods only fit their own system. A Mate pod won’t go on a Vue battery. Check the pod compatibility chart before you reorder.
Why buy a disposable?
- Nothing to match up. One device, no pods to keep track of.
- Multi-pack savings. Pulse X2, RAZ RX, Pulse X and RAZ LTX are 2 for $44.99 or 3 for $59.99 on our pages.
- Same top ratings. The Pulse X2 and RAZ RX are rated up to 50,000 puffs, the same as the Vue and Clio Platinum pods.

Which lasts longer?
On rated puffs, the Mate 60K pod leads. After that, the Vue pod, Clio Platinum pod, Pulse X2 and RAZ RX are all rated up to 50,000 in their lower-power modes.
