These two Geek Bar products sit at the same starting price but are built differently. The Mate 60K separates the battery device from the pod, so you buy the kit once and refill with pods. The Pulse X2 is one sealed piece you replace when it’s empty. Everything below comes from our own product pages, checked October 24, 2026. If a page doesn’t list something, we say “not listed.” For the Mate against other pod systems, see Geek Bar Clio Platinum vs Mate 60K, Geek Bar Mate 60K vs RAZ Vue and Foger Switch Pro vs Geek Bar Mate 60K. This page is the first to put the Mate against a disposable.
What’s the main difference between the Mate 60K and Pulse X2?
Format. The Geek Bar Mate 60K kit pairs a 900 mAh device with a 200 mAh pre-filled pod. The kit page says each pod also works on its own, and the device adds the bigger battery and the display. When a pod runs out, you buy a Mate 60K replacement pod for $21.99 and keep the device.
The Geek Bar Pulse X2 50K is a sealed, pre-filled disposable. It’s rechargeable over USB-C, but when the e-liquid is gone you replace the whole unit.

Which one costs less per puff?
On the first purchase, using the Regular-mode rating, the Mate kit works out to about $0.42 per 1,000 puffs ($24.99 ÷ 60). A single Pulse X2 is about $0.50 per 1,000 puffs ($24.99 ÷ 50). With the X2 2-pack at $44.99, each is about $22.50, or roughly $0.45 per 1,000 puffs; with the 3-pack at $59.99, each is about $20.00, or roughly $0.40 per 1,000 puffs.
After the first purchase, a Mate replacement pod at $21.99 is about $0.37 per 1,000 puffs ($21.99 ÷ 60). So if you stick with the Mate, refills come in slightly below even the X2’s 3-pack rate. In Pulse mode both ratings halve, and the comparison stays about the same in proportion. These are rated maximums; real counts depend on how long you draw and which mode you use.
How do the modes compare?
Both use Geek Bar’s two-mode setup. Regular mode is the longer-lasting setting and Pulse mode gives a bigger hit for fewer rated puffs. On the Mate, a pod is rated for up to 60,000 puffs in Regular and up to 30,000 in Pulse. On the Pulse X2, it’s up to 50,000 in Regular and up to 25,000 in Pulse. Neither page lists wattages for its modes, so we can’t compare power output directly.
Is the Mate pod usable without the device?
Yes, according to our kit page: each Mate pod works on its own, and the device adds the 900 mAh battery and display. The pod page notes the pod’s 200 mAh built-in battery recharges on the Mate device. That’s a different setup from the Pulse X2, where the battery, screen and e-liquid all live in one sealed unit. If you want to understand how pods and devices pair across brands, see Geek Bar and RAZ replacement pod compatibility.
How do the screens and flavor menus compare?
The Mate device has what its page calls a Galaxy display, and the pod has a visible tank so you can see the liquid level. The Pulse X2 has a 3D curved display showing battery and e-liquid. Neither page lists screen size.
On flavors, the Pulse X2 page lists 24. The Mate kit page lists 8 kit flavors, and the replacement pod page lists 15 pod flavors, so you get more choice once you’re buying pods. Flavor lists change, so check the product page on the day you order. For more on the X2, see Geek Bar Pulse X vs Pulse X2 and Geek Bar Pulse 2 vs Pulse X2.
