Quick answer: Not through the DoorDash marketplace. DoorDash says it does not currently allow merchants to sell tobacco products on DoorDash, including e-cigarettes and vapes. In some places where it’s legal, a merchant with a tobacco-specific agreement can use Dashers to deliver tobacco a customer bought through the merchant’s own channels — with a 21+ ID check at the door.
Does DoorDash deliver vapes?
Not as a normal marketplace order. DoorDash says it “does not currently allow Merchants to directly sell tobacco products, electronic cigarettes, or other similar products” on its consumer marketplace. The one exception it describes: in some states where it is legal, merchants with a tobacco-specific agreement with DoorDash may request Dasher delivery of tobacco products that customers bought directly from the merchant through the merchant’s own channels or other platforms. DoorDash also tells Dashers to decline customer requests to add a tobacco product to an order by chat or phone.
Which stores sell vapes on DoorDash?
Because DoorDash says merchants cannot directly sell vapes on its marketplace, you should not expect to find vapes in a regular DoorDash order from a gas station, convenience store, or smoke shop. Availability of any merchant-arranged delivery depends on the store, its agreement with DoorDash, and local law. For whether gas stations carry vapes in person, see Do Gas Stations Sell Vapes?
What to know
- Age check at delivery: federal law sets the minimum age at 21 (FDA: Tobacco 21 — federal minimum age 21 since Dec 20, 2019).
- Remote sales rules: the PACT Act, as amended Dec 27, 2020, covers e-cigarettes sold remotely and requires adult signature and age verification at delivery. See ATF: PACT Act (checked Oct 22, 2026).
- Platform policy: “DoorDash does not currently allow Merchants to directly sell tobacco products. This includes cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes, vapes, vape pens…” Dashers must check a valid photo ID (21+ in the US) every time, and may not deliver tobacco to places like schools, hospitals, sports venues, college campuses, or P.O. boxes. - State and local law can ban vape delivery entirely.
ID and 21+ checks at the door
DoorDash’s tobacco guidelines say:
- The customer must be 21+ in the U.S.
- Dashers check every customer’s ID every time, even if the customer clearly looks old enough.
- A valid ID must include a photo and date of birth, such as a government-issued driver’s license or ID card, a passport, or a U.S. military ID. Expired IDs are not accepted.
- Dashers may not deliver tobacco to places such as K-12 schools, hospitals, sports venues, college campuses, prisons, P.O. boxes, package lockers, or other tobacco retailers.
What if nobody is home?
An age-restricted order needs a live ID check, so it can’t be left at the door. DoorDash’s guidelines say that if the ID check fails, the Dasher does not complete the delivery and returns the tobacco products to the merchant. If you aren’t there to show ID, plan for the same outcome; any refund or fee is up to the store and DoorDash.
Where vape delivery isn’t allowed
DoorDash itself notes that “third-party delivery of tobacco products is illegal in many states,” and state and local law can ban vape delivery entirely. We don’t publish a state-by-state list here because rules change; rules vary by state, city, and store, and DoorDash and the store decide whether a delivery can happen.
